About Us

Local business owners supporting other local businesses so our friends and neighbors can thrive and Greater La Crosse can remain unique.

Local Businesses Need a Cheerleader

Local Businesses Speaking Up & Creating Opportunities for Small Businesses

The pandemic created an economic crisis. Federal funding only helped 26% of La Crosse County businesses.

Meanwhile, Inflation is rising. Business travel has not returned. Worker shortages are burning people out. Erratic supplies make sales tough.

We need:

  • To help keep puting food on the table for our friends and neighbors
  • Someone helping us see what’s coming
  • A voice to government
  • More resources
  • A “cheerleader”
  • Hope

Why We Exist

To keep Greater La Crosse unique by promoting doing business with locally owned businesses. We will grow and reward the influencers in our community who believe in and promote patronizing local companies.

Our Pledge

Our leadership will be directed by individuals whose businesses are at least 51% owned by someone living in the area. They use more local businesses to support their own, and are keenly aware of the impact their business has on help friends and neighbors.

We will include all. You do not have to pay to be considered a part of our community. We must show you the value.

What We Will Do

We will be the lighthouse for our local businesses — seeing what is coming and guiding them through the seas ahead.

We will find best practices, tips, more time-efficient and cost-efficient ways to keep you competitive.

We will be your cheerleader.

Our Leadership

As the weight of 2020 set in, members of the North La Crosse Business Association (NLBA) addressed the tough questions on every business leader’s mind – how do we stop the increase in online sales accelerated by 2020, and how do we unite to save small local jobs, families, and dreams?

The Get on Living Safely campaign began.

The NLBA began inviting partners to join in this pioneering effort. The founding volunteers began raising money and planning the launch, with a goal of starting before the Holiday season and continuing beyond.

Two years later, it was clear that with workers shortages, supply shortages, inflation, and an accelerated rate of people turning to online shopping, the need to continue promoting doing business locally to help our friends and neighbors needed to continue.

The Greater La Crosse LOCAL Business Alliance began two years to the day that businesses were told to close for “two weeks to flatten the curve” – March 17, 2022.
